Is This the Right Decision for You?
The first step is to determine whether the surgery is right for you. The best way to determine whether you should have the surgery is to speak with a Bariatric surgeon. If you sign up through us to find out more, a staff member of your local medical facility will contact you to discuss the surgery with you and make an appointment for a consultation, if that's what you want to do.

The Decision to Have Surgery
After you learn about the procedure and have met with the surgeon, you can decide whether the treatment is right for you. Their staff is there to help guide you and are available to answer any questions you may have before you make your decision.

Preoperative Consultations and Seminars
As an essential part of your pre-approval for surgery you will complete preoperative consultations and undergo testing with dietitians, psychologists, and other healthcare providers to qualify you for the surgery. Your Bariatric guide will closely assist you throughout the entire process.

The Surgery
The surgery itself takes between one to three hours depending on the procedure. Your hospital stay will last one to four days, again depending on the procedure. During your time in the hospital, you will receive information about your post surgical care and diet after you have recovered from surgery.

Recovery
After discharge, your recovery will continue at home. Depending on your condition, which procedure you undergo, and the type of work you do it could take three to six weeks before you are able to return to work. Your physician will help you to make this decision.

Support
Post-operatively, we encourage you to make several visits so that your surgeon can monitor your progress. Monthly group support meetings are important and offered by the facility to discuss any issues you may have, encourage you in your weight loss, and help you maintain it. Our newsletter offers more support to all our patients.
